Leadership
Committee
The board of directors has implemented a new structure of the board. They have created leadership committees in
each discipline to handle the specific details of each area of the sport, as
listed below:
RESPOSIBILITIES
DISCIPLINE LEADERSHIP COMMITTEES - Discipline Leadership (Technical) Committees
are charged with monitoring, evaluating and recommending changes or
improvements to the curriculum of the competitive program, including, but not
limited to, divisions, eligibility, competitive regulations, rules governing
proper procedures, uniform and costume requirements, safety requirements,
standards of officials, in addition to on-going evaluation and recommendations
for events and training programs for athletes, coaches and officials. Input
shall be sought from all interested parties before finalizing recommendations
to be submitted to members of the Board of Directors in a written report.

C-3 Roller Figure World Team Funding for
2010:
(a) Information - Motion 2: 10/31109 -
Approved a USA Roller Sports Operation Gold Refund for Senior World Team
Athletes for 2009, 2010 and 2011 as follows for Senior Figure Skaters, Pairs,
Team Dance and Solo Dance athletes.
· Placements at the
2009, Senior World Figure Championships will result in the following refunds:
Gold Medal - $2,500, Silver Medal - $2,000, Bronze Medal - $1,500, 4thp1ace
$1,000.
· Funding given for
placements at the 2010 and 2011 Senior World Championships will match the
amounts provided by the USOC Operation Gold Fund for Senior Freestyle athletes.
This will be a one-time
payment each year, regardless of the number of medals won, for the highest
medal achieved by the athlete(s), with full equal amounts being given to each
member in team events.
(b) Information - U. S. Olympic Committee
Operation Gold Funds for Senior World Team Athletes —
Senior Freestyle Athletes will
receive the following in 2010 from the USOC for placements at the 2010 World
Championships: 1 -$2,500, 21 -$2,000, 3’ -$1,500, 4 -$1,000 (subject to change
annually).
Senior Speed Athletes will
receive the following in 2010 from the USOC for placements at the 2010 World
Championships in individual and relay events: 1st - $2,500, 2’ - $2,000, 3 -
$1,500, - $1,000 (subject to change annually).
(c) Approve continuation of Funding for
2010 figure athletes as implemented by the USARS Board for 2009:
Motion 29, 10/19/08: Approved
funding of $1,000 per athlete for members of the Senior Team toward the cost of
their participation in World Championships, when profit from the National
Championships is at least $160, 000 (funds are not provided to Inline, Show or
Precision Team athletes)”. Athlete funding will be confirmed “after” the income
from the 2009 National Figure Skating Championships is known and the expenses
have all been paid.
Congratulations
to Samuel Johnson for his advancement to Elite Coach status.
2011
National Championships
Pending final
approval the 2011 Nationals will be held in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Travel
USA
Roller Sports members are eligible to receive discounted travel through United for
USA Roller Sports sanctioned events throughout the 2010 competitive
season.
Event
organizers must have their event sanction approved eight weeks prior to their
event for their event to be eligible to receive the benefits of the USA Roller
Sports/United travel program.

GORDON
B. VAN ROEKEL LIFETIME SERVICE - This award shall be awarded periodically, not
on an annual basis, as an individual merits such recognition for the highest
level of continuous service to the Confederation.
Betty
Ann Danna, Sarasota, Florida —for her
contributions to USARS and the United States Foundation for Amateur Roller
Skating. Betty Ann Danna began serving on the USARS Board of Directors in 1985
and was elected President from 1994 through 1998. Because of her financial
background, she has served on the USA Foundation for Amateur Roller Skating for
a decade, being elected as its President in 2007 and remains in that position
today.

IDN —Add a Novice Veteran Division (age 45 and up) to IDN. The distances would
be the same as Masters Division. 2011 season.
09-19
IDN —The distances skated by the Novice divisions at Championship events should
mirror the distances of the comparable adding a 3rd distance. 2011 season.

World
Class Events: Awards and Presentation Procedures
The
committee unanimously proposes:
At
the USARS National Championships, the presentation of awards for the Junior
World Class and World Class events will be made following the completion of the
skating of both divisions. Awards will be given to those skaters who placed
1St, 2 and 3rd in each contest.
Following
this ceremony, the announcing and presentation of awards will be made for both
the Junior and Senior World Teams. The two highest placing American skaters in
each Junior World Class divisions, who satisfy all of the necessary
requirement’s will be awarded the 1st and 2nd place medals, and a position on
the Junior World Team. The 3rd place winners will be awarded a medal. The three
highest placing American skaters in the World Class divisions of figures, team
dance, pairs and free skating, who satisfy all of the necessary requirements
will be awarded the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals and a position on the Senior
World Team. The two highest placing American skaters in each World Class
division of solo dance, who satisfy all of the necessary requirement’s will be
awarded the 1st and 2nd place medals and a position on the Senior World Team.
The 3rd place winners in all disciplines will be awarded a medal. This rule
would become AR7.03.02

The
committee unanimously proposes:
To
protect the longevity of the skaters in the above four events the
following should be instituted for the 2010 national placement winners:
(a)
Skaters who have placed 1st at the National Championship in the _____ event
must advance to the next higher age appropriate (A) event in subsequent skating
seasons.
(b)
Skaters who have placed 2nd or 3rd at the National Championship in
the _____ event may advance to the next higher age appropriate (A) event, or
remain in the _____ division event in subsequent skating seasons.
(c)
Skaters who have never placed 1, 2 or 3 at the National Championships in the
_____ event have the option to advance to the next higher age appropriate (A)
event, or may remain in the ______ event.
